Our Working Committees
Help Us Save Katy Station
Saving Columbia's historic 1909 Katy Station will take community involvement, professional expertise, and teamwork.
We've established five working committees to develop and carry out the plans needed to relocate, preserve, and give Katy Station a sustainable future.
Each committee has specific responsibilities and works in coordination with the Save Katy Station Steering Committee.

Help us imagine the next chapter for Katy Station!
Saving Katy Station is just the beginning. We also need to think about what this historic building could become and how it can continue serving Columbia for generations to come.
You don't have to be an expert in historic preservation or community planning. If you have ideas, enjoy talking with people, or simply care about Columbia's future, we'd love to have you involved!
What Will We Be Doing?
Listening to our community! Gathering ideas through conversations, surveys, interviews, and community listening sessions.
Exploring possibilities. Looking at different ways Katy Station could be used while respecting its historic character.
Bringing people together. Connecting with neighbors, community organizations, potential users, nonprofits, and other interested groups.
Making ideas practical. Exploring what different uses might cost, how the building could operate, and what it would take to keep it financially sustainable.
Helping shape the future. Comparing ideas, sharing community feedback, and developing recommendations for the larger Save Katy Station effort.
How Much Time Does It Take?
That's up to you! We know everyone has busy lives. Whether you can help with a listening session, research an idea, or participate in committee discussions, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
How Will We Work Together?
We'll meet, share ideas, listen to different perspectives, and divide up projects based on everyone's interests.

Coordinate with the Site, Relocation & Building Committee on building size, site access, utilities, building codes, and renovation requirements.
First 90 Days
Develop a community engagement plan, gather public input, identify promising future uses, explore operating and ownership models, and report recommendations and unresolved questions to the Steering Committee.
